2022 NFL Hall of Fame Game: Raiders beat Jaguars in Canton
On a night which started with an unexpected weather delay, the Raiders and Jaguars faced off at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio.
It’s been a long time coming. After an NFL offseason like no other, we have longed for a return to the field. Football is finally back, ladies and gentlemen!
To start the weekend festivities every year for the NFL Hall of Fame, the league hosts an annual game to honor current and former players alike. It’s been the first game of every NFL season since the New York Giants and St. Louis Cardinals tied 21-21 in 1962. This year’s matchup was the 60th year anniversary of the game.
Players set to be inducted into the NFL Hall of Famer this weekend were present at the game, including Jacksonville Jaguars icon OT Tony Boselli, New England Patriots star DL Richard Seymour, & Green Bay Packers legend SS Leroy Butler.
Raiders start 2022 strongly
It was an entertaining blowout from the start. The Raiders won in dominating fashion against the Jaguars, with a 27-11 final score.
Key Inactive players: Raiders WR Davante Adams, Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence, Jaguars RB James Robinson, & Jaguars WR Christian Kirk.
Jaguars key player tonight: Quarterback Kyle Sloter, who had 13 passing completions out of 25 passing attempts, gaining an impressive 127 passing yards and a passing touchdown, to practice squad running back Nathan Cottrell.
NFL Draft #1 overall pick Travon Walker was able to get his first career sack in his first ever game for the Jaguars. A great start to his NFL career.
For the Raiders, backup QB Jarrett Stidham passed for 96 yards, having 8 passing completions out of 15 passing attempts. He ended his night with a 12-yard rushing touchdown.
A great start to a weekend of tradition in Canton. And on Saturday morning, football fans around the globe will be able to experience more of this historic event by tuning the 2022 Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement only on NFL Network and ESPN at 12pm EST.
