Standout rookies from Week Six
Kenneth Walker III – RB, Seattle Seahawks
Stats: 110 total yards, 1 touchdown
Walker played a big role as the Seahawks took down the Cardinals. The rookie was very shifty and seems to be able to evade most tackles. Since being given a chance to be RB1 on the Seahawks’ offense Walker has taken everything in his stride.
The rookie will be looking to continue his performances the rest of the season and cement himself as one of the best backs in the NFL.
Breece Hall – RB, New York Jets
Stats: 116 rushing yards, 1 touchdown
Breece Hall is really starting to find his groove in the NFL now. His rushing performances are helping the Jets win games and be competitive. The Jets are rushing so well with him that they barely even need to pass the ball. In an emphatic win over the Packers, Hall played a key role in leading the Jets to victory.
The Jets could have both the offensive rookie and defensive rookie of the year. This is a franchise that is heading in the right direction.
Tariq Woolen – CB, Seattle Seahawks
Stats: 5 tackles, 1 interception
Woolen has been one of the few bright spots on the Seahawks defence this year. It seems like he gets an interception every week. With Sauce Gardner getting all the praise as a rookie CB it feels like Woolen isn’t getting the respect he deserves. The 4th round pick is using his physical advantage to make as many plays as he can.
He even ranks as the best CB in the league in some metrics. There is a bright future ahead for the Seahawks’ defender.
Bailey Zappe – QB, New England Patriots
Stats: 309 passing yards, 2 touchdowns
Nobody would have expected Zappe to come in and play so well, but he has turned some heads. Zappe is only playing due to an injury to other QBs on the roster and he has been impressive. The rookie QB played a great game as the Patriots easily beat the Browns.
Mac Jones will most likely be back as QB1 once he returns from injury. However there is now a little more pressure on him if he has a rough patch.
Kayvon Thibodeaux – EDGE, New York Giants
Stats: 5 pressures, 1 sack, 1 forced fumble
The 5th overall pick is starting to show why he was taken at that spot in the draft. Thibodeaux has been consistently pressuring the QB the past few weeks but had not been able to get a sack. That changed in week 6 as he got his first sack which secured the win for the Giants. He made Lamar Jackson fumble the ball in the final minutes en route to the Giants’ fifth win of the season.
After a slow start to the year, Thibodeaux will be looking to take down the opposing QB more often moving forward.
