Fantasy Football 2024 Week 10: Start ’em, Sit ’em

hq720 (1)

Welcome back to Fantasy Football Start ‘em, Sit ‘em – where each week we explore some of my best picks for who should be starting in fantasy managers’ lineups, and who should be sitting the week out.

Week 9 saw a few more players go down with injury – Dak Prescott is set to miss some time with a hamstring injury, CeeDee Lamb is questionable with an AC joint sprain in his shoulder, Drake London exited their game with a hip injury, Chris Olave suffered another concussion, and A.J. Brown is day-to-day with a knee injury.

Luckily, there are only a few impact players that will be out with byes this week – fantasy managers have to work around no David Njoku, Josh Jacobs, Alexander Mattison, Brock Bowers, Geno Smith, Kenneth Walker, and JBN.

Per usual, let’s take a look at the best of what we have left to work with this week.

Ian’s Record: 39-28

Start ’em

Kirk Cousins (QB, Falcons) at Saints

With a win streak going and the rest of the division struggling, Atlanta finds themselves sitting pretty atop the NFC South. Kirk-o Bangs is currently on a tear as well, throwing seven touchdown passes in the past two games.

The Saints’ defense has been getting worse and worse each week, and now with Marshon Lattimore gone, Kirk should have a field day.

Jonathan Taylor (RB, Colts) vs Bills

JT is overdue for a flash game like week 3, and I like his chances here in a favorable matchup.

It’s no secret Buffalo puts up a lot of points, but they remain subpar against the run. They’re currently averaging 25.6 fantasy points a game to opposing backs with a 4.58 average yards per attempt.

It’s also no secret that Taylor is the feature back in Indy, as he’s hit 20+ rush attempts in three of his last four games played.

Darnell Mooney (WR, Falcons) at Saints

I normally don’t like to list people on the same team in these articles, but this matchup is too delicious to pass up.

With Drake London nursing a hip injury, Kirk Cousins will be forced to feed Mooney – who is already receiving his fair share of targets.

He’s found the endzone in each of their last two games (four times in the last five), and again with no Marshon Lattimore, you’re looking at a depleted New Orleans secondary that already has been getting worse.

Mike Gesicki (TE, Bengals) at Ravens

Gesicki saw a season high in yards last week with 100, as well as finding the endzone for the first time this season. And then found it again.

With Tee Higgins set to miss a third-straight game, expect Gesicki to remain well in the mix in a favorable matchup. Baltimore has allowed the third most receiving yards to TEs at 608 on a 75% completion percentage.

Sit ’em

Drake Maye (QB, Patriots) at Bears

Maye was briefly a hero for New England after forcing overtime against the Titans on a game-tying touchdown as time expired, only to have that fizzle out after throwing an interception to lose it.

He now faces a much tougher task in Chicago, as that secondary will be able to contain him much better than Rhamondre Stevenson on the ground. Pass.

Raheem Mostert (RB, Dolphins) at Rams

The 2023 rushing touchdown leader seems to be getting stuck in the back seat behind De’Von Achane’s incredible year, and he now has game-changing fumbles in two consecutive weeks.

You just can’t trust him to get the touches now, even on the goal line.

D.J. Moore (WR, Bears) vs Patriots

Let’s put aside the simple fact that Moore likely has a date with Christian Gonzalez, the chemistry with Caleb Williams just hasn’t been there all season for Moore, which really unfortunately comes fresh off a healthy contract extension.

Put simply, it’s not smart to start a wide receiver that walks off the field mid-play. Pass.

Ja’Tavion Sanders (TE, Panthers) vs Giants

Sanders has picked up a little steam as a rookie with fellow TE Tommy Tremble out. Don’t go chasing that into what sounds like a favorable matchup this week however, as the Giants have been better against TEs than you may think.

In the past four weeks, NYG has only surrendered 90 yards to the position and zero touchdowns, averaging out to 3.4 fantasy points a game. Their run defense in that span? Not as good. Expect Chuba Hubbard to feast.
