Von Miller signs one-year deal with Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys have agreed to terms with veteran pass rusher Von Miller on a one-year contract, the team announced Sunday night.

Miller, entering his 15th season, has more sacks (138.5) than any other active player. He spent the 2025 season with the NFC East rival Washington Commanders, playing in all 17 games and posting nine sacks, 26 tackles and six tackles for loss on 420 defensive snaps.

The move is a homecoming for the veteran. A DeSoto, Texas native, Miller starred at DeSoto High School before playing collegiately at Texas A&M. Dallas sits less than an hour from where he grew up.

A first-round pick of the Denver Broncos in 2011, Miller has been named to the Pro Bowl eight times and named first- or second-team All-Pro seven times. He was the NFL’s Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2011 and twice finished second in Defensive Player of the Year voting. He is a two-time Super Bowl champion, winning with the Broncos in 2015 (earning Super Bowl MVP) and the Rams in 2021.

The signing gives the Cowboys’ outside linebacker room three first-round picks in Rashan Gary, 2026 selection Malachi Lawrence and Miller, alongside 2025 second-round pick Donovan Ezeiruaku and others. Miller reunites with new defensive coordinator Christian Parker, with whom he shared parts of a season in Denver.

The addition follows the team’s recent three-year, $105.9 million extension for defensive tackle Quinnen Williams.
