Four-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers has a new contract with the New York Jets, in a deal which will see the quarterback take a pay cut to try to save the franchise a huge $35 million.

Rodgers agreed to a new two-year, $75m guaranteed contract with the Jets on Wednesday, despite previously having nearly $110m in guaranteed money remaining on his previous deal signed with the Green Bay Packers.

The move could help to fund extra roster building moves for Gang Green, and seems to reiterate that Rodgers is intent to stay with the Jets beyond just this season.

Prior to his blockbuster trade to New York earlier this offseason, the Jets only had $8.6 million in cap space this year, while Rodgers was set to count $31.6 million against the 2023 cap.

But the change in pay could help to bring in extra experience for their championship charge this season, with the club having been linked to sign players such as star running back Dalvin Cook in recent days.
