The Washington Commanders have sacked defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio, following their Thanksgiving demolition defeat to the Dallas Cowboys.

The decision comes a day after the Commanders lost 45-10 and a week after they allowed 31 points to Tommy DeVito and the New York Giants. Defensive backs coach Brent Vieselmeyer has also been fired.

Del Rio has been in Washington since 2020, having served as the Raiders head coach between 2015-2017, and he has often been criticised for his play calling,

Head coach Ron Rivera is expected to take hold of defensive play-calling, but even he is under pressure. Rumours suggest that he could be replaced by new offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy in the offseason.
