Five of the best deals from Free Agency Day Two

NFL free agency is continuing to give us new story lines with deals coming in on constant flow. Day Two saw some big name players move, with more divisional team swaps, and players getting paid.

Here are our top five deals from Day Two:

5. Commanders sign Jeremy Chinn

The Commanders have acquired one of the more interesting players of free agency in Jeremy Chinn, a 6’3″, 220-pound defender who can line up in various spots between linebacker, safety and the slot. For new head coach Dan Quinn, Chinn is a player who he’ll absolutely love, and on a 1-year, $5.1M deal, this feels a low risk, high reward signing for Washington.

4. Falcons sign Darnell Mooney

A new No.2 option outside Drake London, Mooney brings that true deep threat to open up Zac Robinson’s offense will thrive on. A down year in 2023 reflects in a fairly average contract, but Mooney has all the tools to return to his best with Kirk Cousins making the throws. Another good deal for Atlanta.

3. Texans sign Danielle Hunter

The Texans continued to make major splashes in free agency on Tuesday. Having already dealt for Joe Mixon, Azeez Al-Shaair and Jeff Okudah, they proceeded to sign one of the best defenders in football last season in Danielle Hunter, who finished with 16 sacks in 2023.

Yes, the contract looks steep given Hunter’s age and injury concerns. But for a partner next to DROTY Will Anderson, they’ve found themselves the ultimate. Hunter will continue to be a sack machine in Houston, and turn the defensive line into one of the best in the league.

2. Steelers sign Patrick Queen

Until Roquan Smith arrived, Patrick Queen hadn’t quiet lived up to expectations in Baltimore. But the young linebacker, still just 24, broke out in 2023, with 133 tackles, 3.5 sacks, an interception and a forced fumble earning him a Pro Bowl selection.

A three-year, $41 million contract feels a bargain for a player like Queen. He will slot straight into a position of need for the team this year, and give the Steelers yet another workhorse on defense. It’s a perfect signing all-round for Pittsburgh.

1. Ravens sign Derrick Henry

The fit. The value. Everything about this deal is on point for us, Derrick Henry becoming a Baltimore Raven just feels like it was meant to be. Henry signs a two years, $16 million deal, and it’s the type of move which the Ravens needed to make in order to take their team to the next level and try to win a championship.

The duo of Henry and Lamar Jackson, with a nice supplement of Keaton Mitchell on top, gives Baltimore the most explosive running attack in the NFL, and we can’t wait to sign it all in action in 2024.
