NFL Week Four Star Performers

Week Four saw some awesome match-ups, some incredible scorelines and the first trip overseas in 2023. But who were the difference makers? Let’s take a look at three players who stood out this week:

Khalil Mack

EDGE, Chargers, W v Raiders, 24-17

The star pass rusher didn’t have a sack this season entering Sunday’s game against the Las Vegas Raiders, but left it just one shy of an NFL record.

Mack recorded an unbelievable SIX sacks in the Los Angeles Chargers‘ 24-17 win over his former team, just one less than late Hall of Famer Derrick Thomas’ all-time single-game record of seven.

On top of the sacks, the former fifth overall pick dominated the stats board throughout, with an additional 10 tackles, 10 QB pressures and seven QB hits.

Quite the day, unless you’re Aidan O’Connell making your debut against a pass rusher like Mack.

Josh Allen

QB, Bills, W v Dolphins, 48-20

The Buffalo Bills crushed Miami on Sunday, halting the improving Dolphins who have been one of the most explosive sides in the NFL to start the season.

A large factor in the win was Allen’s performance. 320 yards for four touchdowns, with a superb 158.3 QB rating and having not thrown for an interception.

He’s come a long way after a disappointing start against the Jets in Week One, and the hype around the Bills is very much back in the frame. MVP favourite? At the moment, it’s hard to bet against it.

Christian McCaffrey

RB, Lions, W @ Packers, 3

If there is a player who can win the MVP as a non-QB, it’s this guy. He’s simply the best offensive weapon in the NFL at the moment.

McCaffrey has seven touchdowns through four games, including three this week against the Arizona Cardinals, which puts him on pace for almost 30. The single-season record is 31, held by LaDainian Tomlinson back in 2006, and it is finally feels being threatened by one of the best players in the league today.

David Montgomery of the Detroit Lions had the same number of touchdowns and more yards this week, but the skill of McCaffrey puts him a level above anyone else. He, and his team, just keep getting better and better.
