NFL Week Seven Star Performers

Week Seven saw some awesome match-ups, some incredible scorelines and the first trip overseas in 2023. But who were the difference makers? Let’s take a look at three players who stood out this week:

Myles Garrett

We don’t say this lightly, but Myles Garrett’s performance against the Indianapolis Colts is one of the best performances by an edge rusher that we’ve ever seen! He was a destructive force in all areas of the pitch on Sunday, showcasing why he’s regarded as one of the most dominant players in the NFL today.

The 27-year-old made nine tackles, the most he has managed in a game since 2018, as well as two sacks, one pass breakup, and two forced fumbles, one of which led to a Browns defensive touchdown, and, most spectacular of all, a blocked field goal attempt.

Garrett is box office and deserves to be the favourite for the Defensive Player of the Year crown; let’s hope he can keep it up for the rest of the year!

Lamar Jackson

The most impressive win over the weekend came at M&T Bank Stadium, as the Baltimore Ravens absolutely destroyed what looked like an improved Detroit Lions team, lead by an excellent performance by quarterback Lamar Jackson.

Lamar threw for three touchdowns as well as a rushing score in the 38-6 win. He has been throwing the ball as good as anyone these past few weeks, and everything just looks to be clicking for the Ravens right now. They stepped up for a fairly breezy victory in London last time out, and stepped up massively, with Jackson leading from the front.

No need to panic Lions fans, the Ravens were just too good on Sunday. They are genuinely a top-3, maybe now the best looking team in the AFC right now.

Travis Kelce

Taylor Swift was back in the house as the Kansas City Chiefs hosted divisional rivals the Los Angeles Chargers, and boy did it spur on Travis Kelce on National Tight Ends Day.

Kelce played a starring role for the Chiefs who beat the Los Angeles Chargers 31-17 on Sunday, clocking 179 yards and a touchdown off 12 receptions. He’s not just continuing to perform at a high level, he’s statistically having his best start to a season.

The 34-year-old had 100+ yards in the first half alone, something he also accomplished in his last match, with Swift also in attendance. As long as this romance blossoms, Kelce and the Chiefs will continue to excel.
