offGrid NFL’s Fantasy League: Week Two Review

Dominant? I think that’s what you’d call my performance in Week 2.

Welcome to a little series of fantasy football articles detailing the high and lows of the offGrid Fantasy League, including all of your well-known names.

Who knows there might even be some forfeits at the end of it? (whether we have discussed it or not yet)

A different writer every week (where possible) to document everything from wacky trades to late MNF wins.

As luck would have it, the idea of writing up the offGrid NFL Fantasy League’s matchups coincided perfectly with a career week for myself… rather more unfortunately for Pete, but we’ll get to that shortly.

Here’s a brief recap on Week 1:

Luke, Pete, Dale and Ian coming into Week 2 riding high, James in particular coming into the week in need of retribution.

Week 2 Matchups:

Danny (Chark-nado) 198.46 – 136.88 Pete (Turn down the Watt)

Pete backed the big money Hockenson on TNF, over performing and leaving the match up ripe for the taking, or so he thought.

The reality was more stark. This one was wrapped up after the 6pm games for me, riding off the back of some aged receivers in Keenan Allen and Mike Evans I stormed to victory almost surmounting that coveted 200 points.

Chase was again nowhere to be seen in a loss to the Ravens which brings into doubt that early round draft selection??

Both of us moved to a 1-1 record.

Jonny (Gibbs Me The Ring) 135.42 – 101.70 Luke (BryceBryceBaby)

An interesting matchup with two high scoring big names in Justin Jefferson (24.90 pts) and Jalen Hurts (26.22 pts) in TNF, set up what should’ve been a barn-stormer.

Jonny’s midweek rejection of a blockbuster trade with myself, seeing Joshua Kelley exchanged for Gibbs could’ve changed his week and ultimately brought into question his team name. However, he resisted that tantalising offer and in the end it proved to be a wise decision (who would’ve thought). With a Detroit backfield combining for 25pts.

In general, Luke was unlucky with some severe underachievers in the form of last year’s rushing leader Josh Jacobs and a struggling Calvin Ridley. However, he will be left questioning a start for Christian Watson, scoring a big fat 0 on the day.

In the end a comfortable one for Jonny, taking them both to a 1-1 record.

Tom (Team TomK97) 137.44 – 157.30 James (Egg Fried Bryce)

Daniel Jones (31.74 pts) outperformed Pat Mahomes (22.20 pts) and you still didn’t take home the W? Shamefully for Tom that was the case this week, is it possible that the fantasy gods made him suffer for the deeply unimaginative team name?

James was stacked with high scorers this week, Bijan Robinson, Davante Adams, DeVonta Smith and not to forget my beloved Pittsburgh Steelers defense (29 pts).

Ultimately this one came down to MNF. Not many would’ve picked the Steelers defense to outscore Chris Olave and the Saints Defense. But hey that’s why we love and an equal amount hate fantasy football.

James moves to 1-1, with Tom slumping to the bottom of the league at 0-2.

Ian (I Write About This Stuff) 154.94 – 105.38 Dale (Finnie23J)

Baker Mayfield was just extended on a huge contract right? Dale backed him and out of nowhere saw production, sadly not nearly enough to save his week. Whilst Burrows carried on his pitiful form and aggravated his ankle injury to boot.

When you have a running back combo of Jamaal Williams and Damien Pierce, with a combined 8.4 pts you know it is going to be a rough week. Ian’s benched running back Deandre Swift had more points on the day and was ultimately just an onlooker for an easy win.

You could tell Ian writes about this stuff because it was a lesson in draft quality, with Christian McCaffrey and Derrick Henry making the most of their run heavy schemes to push him to the top of the league and 2-0.

Dale joins much of the league on 1-1.
