Ravens DC Mike Macdonald becomes new Seahawks head coach

The Seattle Seahawks are expected to hire Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald, per sources.

Macdonald, 36, will be the successor to the long-serving Pete Carroll, and with that become the youngest head coach in the NFL, passing recently hired New England Patriots coach Jerod Mayo, 37.

Macdonald spent the last two seasons running the Ravens’ defense, which finished the 2023 regular season ranked first in scoring and fourth in yards allowed, and viewed by many as one of the best defenses we’ve seen in many years.

Carroll’s 14-year tenure ended after the Seahawks finished the season 9-8 and out of the playoffs, as the sides mutually agreed to move him to an advisory role. Macdonald will now be hoping to take this team to the next level.
