The Cleveland Browns have signed United States Football League (USFL) Defensive Player of the Year (DPOY) Chris Odom, according to Browns reporter Brad Stainbrook of the OBR.

The Browns are likely to use Odom in a backup role behind starting defensive end Jadeveon Clowney in the 2022 season.

Odom signed with the Atlanta Falcons and the Green Bay Packers back in 2017 as an undrafted rookie out of Arkansas state University. He then played again for the Falcons, before playing his last season in the NFL in 2019 for the then-named Washington Redskins.

Odom announced on Instagram that he was signing with the Cleveland Browns. “903 days since I was back in the league. Thank you @theusfl @usflgamblers for the opportunity to continue to live my dream. Next chapter. Let’s get it.”

Heading into the USFL for the 2022 season for the Houston Gamblers, Chris Odom led the league in sacks with 12.5 & 41 tackles, being honored as the 2022 USFL Defensive Player of the Year.

After numerous team workouts with the Dallas Cowboys and Pittsburgh Steelers, Odom chose to head to the Cleveland Browns on a one-year contract deal.
