Derek Carr to join New Orleans Saints
The New Orleans Saints have reached an agreement with former Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr to become their new QB for the 2023 season.
After spending nine seasons with the Raiders, the four-time Pro Bowl selection was cut from the team in January. Now, Carr is headed to New Orleans as a free agent.
Saints boss Dennis Allen was head coach of the then Oakland Raiders when Carr was drafted in 2014, and the two now now reunite in New Orleans as the Saints’ HC-QB tandem.
The move is the first big QB domino to fall this offseason, with many teams from across the league in the market for a new quarterback. It also ends months of speculation over the future of the position in New Orleans, with Jameis Winston and Andy Dalton both out of contract this spring.
Carr signs a 4-year deal in New Orleans, tying him down until 2027.
