Fantasy Football 2024 Week 11: Start ’em, Sit ’em
Welcome back to Fantasy Football Start ‘em, Sit ‘em – where each week we explore some of my best picks for who should be starting in fantasy managers’ lineups, and who should be sitting the week out.
Week 10 saw a few more players go down with injury – Dalton Kincaid exited with a brace on his left knee before halftime, Tank Bigsby left in the first quarter with an ankle injury, and Aaron Jones was carted off the field after a big hit to the chest before returning late in the fourth.
Fantasy managers will get some important players back from byes, but now will be without Kyler Murray, Marvin Harrison Jr., James Conner, Chuba Hubbard, Malik Nabers, Baker Mayfield, and Rachaad White for the upcoming week.
Per usual, let’s take a look at the best of what we have left to work with this week.
Ian’s Record: 45-30
Start ’em
Russell Wilson (QB, Steelers) vs Ravens
Mr. Unlimited is now 3-0 as Pittsburgh’s starter, and he gets a delicious matchup against the defense that has allowed the most passing yards and touchdowns on the year.
He has six touchdowns and surpassed 250 passing yards twice in the three games he’s played so far. I like a pass-heavy look for the Steelers as they’ll likely have to play from behind at a few points, so expect Wilson to hit 250+ yards 2+ touchdowns for a third time.
Nick Chubb (RB, Browns) at Saints
While nothing continues to work for Cleveland, Chubb is without question back in full control of the backfield – and he deserves a breakout game even if this season is in the garbage for the Browns.
He’s the only one receiving double-digit carries since he returned, and the Saints’ run defense has been abysmal lately. They’ve allowed nine rushing touchdowns in their last 5 games on 5.56 average yards a carry. This game should act as a sigh of relief to Browns fans and fantasy managers that Chubb’s still got it.
Courtland Sutton (WR, Broncos) vs Falcons
In what was supposed to be a cake walk for Atlanta, they fell right into the trap of Marquez Valdes-Scantling – who absolutely took the top off their secondary with two touchdowns on three catches.
This game was just the latest addition to Atlanta’s secondary woes, as they’ve surrendered the third most fantasy points to opposing wide receivers in the past six weeks. Bo Nix and Sutton are starting to find their groove too, as Sutton has 9+ targets in each of their last three games.
Jonnu Smith (TE, Dolphins) vs Raiders
While in the past Mike McDaniel’s play calling hasn’t been very inclusive of tight ends, Smith has emerged as one of Miami’s primary pass-catchers as of late. He’s had at least four targets and at least three catches in each of their last 5 games, whether as a designed play call or in critical moments.
The Raiders on the other hand have surrendered 22.9 points per game to opposing TEs in the past three weeks, the most in the league. Look for Smith to stay active as the fins continue their trek to keep their season alive.
Sit ’em
Jayden Daniels (QB, Commanders) at Eagles
A brutal loss fell in Washington’s lap after DT Jer’Zhan Newton took the bait on being drawn offsides with 30 seconds left in the game, and now Daniels and the Commanders offense are tasked with another tough task heading into Philadelphia this week.
Philly’s secondary has been lockdown the last six weeks, allowing only one passing touchdown with an average of 10.9 fantasy points surrendered to opposing QBs. His stellar performance so far says yes, but the matchup is a bit too risky for me.
Travis Etienne Jr. (RB, Jaguars) at Lions
Arguably the worst early-draft pick of this season, please don’t go chasing Tank Bigsby’s injury towards the hope of Etienne having a bounce back game.
This is a terrible matchup for Jags RBs in a blowout game script – Detroit has surrendered the fifth least fantasy points to the position while seeing the fourth least rushing attempts against them at only 165. Expect Jacksonville to go pass heavy while playing from behind all game.
Jakobi Meyers (WR, Raiders) at Dolphins
Since Davante Adams’ departure, Meyers is receiving the target share to arguably be viable in starting lineups – but not this week.
Miami’s defense is buzzing after keeping Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua out of the endzone on MNF, and they’ve only allowed five receiving touchdowns in 9 games played. It’s also easy enough to assume Meyers will receive the Jalen Ramsey treatment.
Taysom Hill (TE, Saints) vs Browns
As fun and dynamic as Hill is week-to-week, he may be too easy to contain against Cleveland as they shut down the run well AND cover the tight end position even better.
If you don’t have another option, run with him. Maybe he’ll throw a touchdown! But don’t bet on it.
