The world of sport has come out in support for Damar Hamlin, following his cardiac arrest on Monday Night Football.

The Bills safety remains in a critical condition, but is showing significant ‘signs of improvement’ in his recovery. He took to social media to thank fans for their love as he posted for the first time since the event.

His collapse has left the entire football community in shock. Team mates, while other NFL players have offered their support and prayer for Hamlin on social media and beyond.

On Saturday, in the first NFL games since Hamlin’s cardiac arrest, the Las Vegas Raiders and the Kansas City Chiefs showed their support pre-game, while Jacksonville Jaguars and Tennessee Titans players took the knee in unison as they prayed prior to their AFC South deciding clash. Players also wore ‘Love for Damar 3’ t-shirts during their warm-ups.

Hamlin is what is good about football

Support for the second-year pro has been incredible. Donations have flooded in for the Chasing M’s Foundation GoFundMe page, which Hamlin launched in 2020.

The first event created by the Chasing M’s Foundation was the Community Toy Drive benefitting Kelly and Nina’s Daycare Center in McKees Rock. The goal was simple, to raise $2,500 to distribute toys to positively impact children hardest hit by the impact of the global pandemic.

Since the outburst of support since Hamlin’s cardiac arrest, that has risen to more than $7 million and counting. Many NFL players, coaches, fans and owners have donated to the cause, as well as other sports stars and celebrities from across the globe.

This young man, who at 24 has suffered a life-changing injury at such a young age, has touched the lives of so many.

The NFL is a community, and it has been incredible to see the league come together in its support for Damar. He remains deeply in our thoughts, as well as the Hamlin family, the Buffalo Bills family, and all fans from across the NFL.

It will be an emotional night as the Bills host the Patriots in their first action since the accident. But the NFL, and the sporting world as a whole, will by the side of everyone in Buffalo
