Four potential landing spots for DeAndre Hopkins

With one of the biggest surprises of this offseason, the Arizona Cardinals have cut star wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins.

It won’t come as a shock that Hopkins won’t be playing for the Cardinals this season, as prior to his release, the team had tried to shop Hopkins to suitors around the league but couldn’t find a party willing to do business.

Speaking on the ‘I AM ATHLETE’ podcast earlier this week, Hopkins explained what he is looking for in a team.

“What I want is stable management upstairs, that’s something I haven’t really had the past couple years of my career coming from Houston and then to Arizona,” said Hopkins. “A QB who loves the game, a QB who brings everybody on board with him, not just himself but everybody around him, and a great defense. A great defense wins championships.”

The three time All-Pro also included some of the quarterbacks he would ideally like to play with, they include Josh Allen, Jalen Hurts, Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson and Justin Herbert. So just about all of the leagues top talent.

Here are some of the teams I think would benefit from DeAndre Hopkins on their roster.

Buffalo Bills

Since the rumours began of Hopkins leaving the Cardinals, I feel like the Bills have been the first team on everyone’s lips.

Stefon Diggs would benefit hugely from having a second high calibre wide receiver. With both team and Hopkins in the search for a ring, this could be a match made in heaven.

Kansas City Chiefs

After Travis Kelce, the only options Patrick Mahomes has to throw to is Kadarius Toney, Marques Valdes-Scantling and Skyy Moore. Hopkins would bring a dynamic and threatening edge to the wide receiver room and make an immediate impact.

With the prospect of playing with Patrick Mahomes and the current Chiefs dynasty, Hopkins may keep his wage demands to a minimum. This I feel is his clearest way to getting his hands on the Lombardi trophy.

New York Jets

There have been many takes on the Rodgers move to New York, but a similar comment reverberates around the NFL community – Rodgers don’t like to play with rookie wide receivers.

Hopkins would be a significant upgrade for Rodgers to pass to and adding a top veteran wide receiver could be the last piece of the puzzle to a deep run in the playoffs.

Dallas Cowboys

If there is ever a man who will throw money at a veteran player, it’s Jerry Jones. Do the Cowboys need Hopkins? No. But would he look great in that uniform? Absolutely.

I feel like that’s all Jerry needs to hear before launching a bid to sign a dangerous offensive piece. It wouldn’t shock me if DeAndre is lining up for the Cowboys this season.
