Kiko Alonso retires from the NFL after 9 years

After recently resigning with the New Orleans Saints on August 5th, Alonso announced his retirement from the National Football League according to news station WWLTV, this comes after just one training camp practice with the team.

Coming from the University of Oregon, Kiko Alonso was drafted by the Buffalo Bills franchise in the 2nd round, 46th overall pick during the 2013 NFL draft. 

Alonso finished his rookie year with 159 combined tackles, four interceptions, four pass deflections, two sacks, and one forced fumble – considered by Pro Football Writers Association their NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year & a honorable member of PFWA All-Rookie Team for the 2013 NFL season.

After being traded by the Buffalo Bills to the Philadelphia Eagles in 2015, Alonso also played for the Miami Dolphins, New Orleans Saints, and the San Francisco 49ers – Traded an NFL record four times throughout his 9-year illustrious career.

Alonso, 31, finishes his professional football career with 388 combined tackles, 10 interceptions and three sacks in 86 career NFL games.
