NFL Betting tips: Battle of the NFC North as Packers host Lions
The Detroit Lions will take on the Green Bay Packers on Thursday night football at Lambeau Field as both teams aim to get their third win of the 2023 season
Detroit has had a lot of optimism and excitement after they knocked off the reigning Super Bowl champions, the Kansas City Chiefs, in the season’s opening game. Quarterback Jared Goff is having another solid season, having thrown for over 800 yards and five touchdowns.
The Lions have made tremendous leaps ever since head coach Dan Campbell took over. They have an abundance of playmakers, such as Amon-Ra St. Brown, who has over 200 receiving yards and one touchdown.
On the defensive side of the ball, Detroit haven’t done anything special as they have conceded, on average, 26 points per game. The Lions will look to get a big statement win and cement themselves as the top team in the NFC North.
Now for the home side and there was a lot of speculation on how good the Packers would be going into the 2023 season, having moved on from their longtime quarterback, Aaron Rodgers, who left to join the New York Jets.
It meant that Jordan Love would be behind the centre in Green Bay for 2023, and he has exceeded many people’s expectations with a solid start to his career by throwing over 650 yards and seven touchdowns.
The Packers have been unfortunate with injuries, with players like Aaron Jones missing a few games. However, if the team is healthy, they have shown they can produce a large amount of production.
On the defensive side, the Packers have been similar to the Lions, as they have given up an average of 23 points per game thus far. They will be desperate to get one over the Lions, who denied Green Bay a playoff spot in 2022.

Jared Goff over 1.5 touchdowns – Goff is averaging just over 1.5 TDs a game, but with Jaire Alexander still questionable, the Lions could target the Packers secondary, and unleash Goff’s passing ability.
Sam LaPorta over 43.5 receiving yards – LaPorta is growing into a good NFL tight end so early into his career. His production has increased week on week, and with 84 yards against the Falcons last week, it should be another busy evening for him on Thursday.
Dontayvion Wicks over 1.5 receptions – Another player growing into his offense, Wicks had four receptions against the Saints in Week Three. Christian Watson is still a doubt, so Wicks will likely get more opportunities to prove his worth.
