NFL Sunday Week Eight: Broncos fight back to win at Wembley as Eagles go 7-0
Russell Wilson recovered as the Denver Broncos came from behind twice to earn a thrilling 21-17 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars at Wembley in London.
The Jaguars led 10-0 after an early Evan Engram touchdown, but scores from Jerry Jeudy, Melvin Gordon and Latavius Murray were enough to seal victory.
It moves the Broncos up to 3-5, while the Jaguars lose again to fall to 2-6.
It was the final game at the British capital for 2022, taking place in-front of a record crowd of 86,215 – the biggest attendance ever for an NFL game in London.
Elsewhere, Josh Allen got the better of Aaron Rodgers as the Buffalo Bills beat the Green Bay Packers in Sunday Night Football.
Allen threw for for two touchdowns and two interceptions in a scrappy affair, as the Packers slip to 0-7 against the Bills in Buffalo; the only team in franchise history that they have never beaten on the road.
McCaffrey the difference for the 49ers as Seahawks remain top of NFC West
The San Francisco 49ers maintained their terrific run of form against the Los Angeles Rams, as new signing Christian McCaffrey starred in a dominant victory at SoFi Stadium.
McCaffrey became the first player since 2005 to run, catch and throw for a touchdown in a single game, as he put in a superb performance to help the Niners to a 31-14 win over their rivals.
Elsewhere, the Seattle Seahawks put an end to the New York Giants’ extraordinary winning run, with a 27-13 victory at Lumen Field.
Geno Smith threw two touchdowns for Pete Carroll’s men, who stay in first place in the NFC West with a 5-3 record.
In perhaps the game of the day, it was a case of trick but no treat for the Carolina Panthers as star receiver DJ Moore went from hero to villain in a split-second after after catching an incredible 62-yard Hail Mary touchdown pass from P.J. Walker to ensure a likely victory against the Atlanta Falcons in the closing stages.
However, after taking his helmet off in celebration, Moore and the Panthers were hit with an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty that pushed the kick back to a 48-yarder, which kicker Eddy Pineiro went on to miss.
After Pineiro also missed a field-goal in overtime, Atlanta went on to steal victory away from their NFC South rivals.
Eagles maintain unbeaten start and Raiders struggle again
Derrick Henry recorded his record-equalling sixth career 200-yard rushing game as the Titans downed the Texans, while A.J. Brown and Tony Pollard scored three touchdowns in more incredible wins for the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys respectively.
The Eagles, who dominated the Pittsburgh from start to finish, remain unbeaten and progress to an astonishing 7-0 record.
Alvin Kamara, rumoured to be the focus of a potential trade this week, was the star of the show in the New Orleans Saints’ 24-0 shutout of the Las Vegas Raiders.
Kamara, heavily linked with a move to the Philadelphia Eagles, scored a rushing and receiving touchdown in the win, which will put even more pressure on Raiders head coach Josh McDaniels.
Davante Adams caught just one pass for three yards in the embarrassing loss, as the Raiders failed dramatically on offense.
Bill Belichick recorded his 325 career win as his Patriots beat the Jets 22-17 for a 13th straight victory over their big rivals. Belichick is now second in all-time wins amongst coaches, with only Don Shula now ahead of him (347).
There were also victories for the Dolphins, Commanders and Vikings on Sunday.
