NFL Sunday Week Seven: Chiefs spoil McCaffrey’s 49ers debut, as Brady, Rodgers lose again
NFL legends Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady fell victim to yet another miserable weekend in the league as the pair struggled against backup quarterbacks in Week Seven.
Taylor Heinicke and P.J. Walker led the Commanders and Panthers to respective victories over Rodgers’ Packers and Brady’s Buccaneers, making this the worst combined seven-week start by the quarterbacks.
The results takes both the Packers and Buccaneers to below .500 after seven rounds of games.
It was also a disappointing weekend for Christian McCaffrey, who was traded to the San Francisco 49ers from the Carolina Panthers on Thursday. The star running back couldn’t help his new team to victory, as the 49ers were thrashed 44-23 by the Kansas City Chiefs.
Patrick Mahomes threw for three touchdowns, while Mecole Hardman became the only wide receiver in the Super Bowl era with two or more rushing touchdowns and one or more receiving touchdowns in a single game.
Four in a row for New York
The fairy-tale season for the two New York franchises continued as both the Giants and the Jets sealed valuable victories.
The G-men came from behind to beat the Jacksonville Jaguars, with both Saquon Barkley and Daniel Jones running for more than 100 yards. The Jets defense shutdown the Denver Broncos, with a 16-9 success.
However, Gang Green lost several players during the game to injury, including arguably their most important offensive player in Breece Hall. The rookie suffered a potential ACL injury in the game, meaning he could be out of action for the remainder of the season.
Elsewhere, Joe Burrow went off for the Bengals, throwing for a sensational 481 yards, as Cincinnati continued their impressive form against the Atlanta Falcons.
Dak Prescott returned to lead the impressive Cowboys to another victory, this time over the struggling Lions. Once again, it was Dallas’ defense that made the difference, with All-Pro Micah Parsons recording yet another sack to take his total to the season to 7.0 (league leading).
Their were also big wins for the Raiders, Titans and Seahawks, while the Ravens survived a late comeback to hold off the Cleveland Browns in a 23-20 victory against their AFC North rivals.
