NFL Sunday Week Ten: Vikings beat Bills in ‘Game of the Year’
The Minnesota Vikings stunned the Buffalo Bills in late, dramatic fashion with a 33-30 overtime win, in what is being described already as the game of the season so far.
Coming from 17 points down, the Vikings came back to seal a thrilling victory, with Justin Jefferson once again impressing with a pair of outrageous catches late on.
Jefferson, arguably the best wide receiver in NFL, came up half a yard short of scoring before Cousins was also kept out, only for Buffalo QB Josh Allen to fumble on the very next play on his own goalline, enabling Eric Kendricks to gather and score to put Minnesota 30-27 ahead.
With 41 seconds left, Allen put together a drive to setup a field goal that forced overtime. The Vikings kicked a field goal of their own to score first in overtime, before Allen was intercepted by Patrick Petersen to finally end a sensational battle between two of the NFL’s elite teams.
The Vikings move up to 8-1 for the season, with only the Philadelphia Eagles having a better record.
NFL’s debut in Germany an instant hit
History was made in Europe as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers beat the Seattle Seahawks 21-16 in the NFL’s first ever match held in Germany.
More than 70,000 fans gather in the Allianz Arena to create an epic atmosphere, as the Buccaneers made it back-to-back wins after three straight defeats.
It was a good day for Tom Brady, who threw for 258 yards and a couple of touchdowns to Chris Godwin and Julio Jones. However, don’t expect the 7x Super Bowl champion to be filling in at wide receiver any time soon, as the 45-year-old slipped to set up an interception in a third quarter play with Leonard Fournette throwing.
Colts, Packers back to winning ways, Raiders, Rams lose again
The Jeff Saturday era in Indianapolis got off to a positive start, as the Colts reduced Derek Carr to tears with a 25-20 at Allegiant Stadium.
Saturday, who was controversially installed as interim head coach following the sacking of Frank Reich, didn’t show his inexperience as a coach, bringing back Matt Ryan who led Indy to victory.
For Las Vegas, the defeat heaps even more pressure on struggling head coach Josh McDaniels, as the Raiders slipped to 2-7.
The Super Bowl Champions Los Angeles Rams lost again as they fell to the bottom of the NFC West, as divisional rivals Arizona Cardinals claimed a 27-17 victory at SoFi Stadium.
A game of two backups with Colt McCoy and John Wolford both starting, the Cardinals handed LA their fifth loss in six games, with things getting worse for the Rams when Cooper Kupp left the game injured.
Aaron Rodgers had to dig deep to turnaround a 14-point deficit to beat the Dallas Cowboys, as the Green Bay Packers ended a three-game losing streak. The reigning MVP threw three touchdowns, while Aaron Jones put up a score and 138 rushing yards in the overtime win.
The Chiefs and Dolphins secured emphatic victories to put them into the top two spots in the AFC standings respectively. The Tennessee Titans are now third, following success over the Denver Broncos.
In the NFC, the Detroit Lions earned a first away victory in two years with a tight win against NFC North rivals Chicago Bears, while the New York Giants continued their sensational form beating the Houston Texans.
