NFL Tips: Dominant 49ers take on a struggling Giants in TNF

An impressive San Francisco 49ers team will take on the struggling New York Giants side as both teams look to get a significant result on Thursday Night Football.

The 49ers have been on quite the roll lately, winning their two opening games. There was a lot of intrigue around how their sophomore quarterback, Brock Purdy, would perform after a brutal injury this season, but the former Mr Irrelevant has thrown for 426 yards and two touchdowns so far this season.

He fits perfectly with San Francisco head coach Kyle Shanahan’s system, with an abundance of incredible playmakers, including George Kittle, Deebo Samuel, and Christian McCaffrey. McCaffrey, in particular, has had a solid start to the season by rushing for over 200 yards and two touchdowns so far this season.

On the defensive side of the ball, San Francisco has been strong like always. The evidence for this is they only give up 15 points per game during the regular season.

The Giants have had a stagnant start to the season, as they have yet to pick up on the postseason form, they had last year. They are 1-1 after suffering a devastating defeat to the Dallas Cowboys in week one and narrowly scraping by a depleted Arizona Cardinals team last weekend.

Quarterback Daniel Jones has had an average start to the season by throwing over 400 yards and two touchdowns. However, Jones has fallen short when it comes to ball security. He has thrown three interceptions so far this season, which means the 49ers will look to capitalise on this weakness.

It is important to note that star running back Saquon Barkley is out with an injury. That could be the first nail in the coffin for this Giants team, as Barkley is their primary playmaker. When looking at the defence, they have been struggling because they’ve given up, on average, 34 points a game this season.
