Packers vs. Eagles in Brazil game special: Betting tips

The circus of the NFL is to make a thrilling stop in South America for the first game of the 2024 NFL International Series, as the Green Bay Packers gear up to face the Philadelphia Eagles in São Paulo, Brazil.

Both teams are brimming with potential to make a significant impact in 2024, and the buzz around the game being held in Brazil is incredible, as the NFL sets off for a new adventure. We can’t wait to see if the game lives up to the hype.

With many exciting betting options, this promises to be an intriguing matchup.

Green Bay Packers

There was a lot of intrigue about what the Packers would look like after the departure of legendary quarterback Aaron Rodgers last year.

But despite the pessimism, Green Bay has emerged as one of the up-and-coming teams of the NFL, ready to make an impact in 2024. The franchise was solid throughout the 2023 regular season, yet come playoff time, they shined the brightest.

The most significant factor in Green Bay is through their quarterback in Jordan Love, who went into last season with much pressure on his shoulders. Green Bay took Love in the first round of the 2020 draft, which raised many questions with Rodgers an MVP-calibre player. People around the league didn’t know what to expect from the player, but he was worth the wait.

In his first year as a starting quarterback, Love got the most out of his team and overachieved by securing big wins, throwing for over 4,000 yards and 32 touchdowns. The quarterback will look to get his team off to a solid start by playing lights out in Brazil.

Of course, Love needs help, and Green Bay has a young, exciting group of playmakers. One name that stands out is new signing Josh Jacobs. The former Las Vegas Raider has been a top running back in the league since his arrival in 2019, having exceeded the 1,000-yard rushing mark for a single season three times throughout his career. Last season, the 26-year-old came in just under 850 rushing yards and six touchdowns.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Packers were a top-10 defence as they gave up 350 points. Green Bay will likely build on the positives from last season, and chances should arise with the NFC needing to be stronger.

Philadelphia Eagles

Watching the Eagles play last year, you could not help but feel confused as it was night and day compared to the team that went to the Super Bowl a year prior.

The roster was mostly the same, which made it even more of a puzzle, so there is reason to believe Philadelphia should be much stronger in 2024. There is enough evidence that quarterback Jalen Hurts is an elite player who can produce quality performances. Despite the Eagles’ regression in 2023, Hurts had another solid year, throwing for over 3,800 yards and 23 touchdowns. The big difference, however, was in the number of interceptions thrown – in 2022, Hurts threw six picks; fast forward to 2023, and the number had increased to 15. That’s a big jump; a key to the franchise getting back on track is tightening ball security.

Philadelphia has built a fantastic roster, with so much talent surrounding Hurts. The acquisition of Saquon Barkley is exciting and his arrival will ignite the run game for Philadelphia. The primary playmaker will still be AJ Brown and the wideout is one of the most physically imposing receivers in the NFL. He and Hurts have a robust connection in the air and will look to cause trouble for defences around the league. Brown is coming off another great season where he had over 1,400 yards and seven touchdowns.

The defense let the team down last season as they were near the bottom, giving up 428 points. There will be hopes for defensive improvement with the arrival of Vic Fangio. Ultimately, the Eagles have the talent on both sides of the ball to go all the way, and it’s all about having the proper execution.

The Bets

Looking at the bets for this game, a three-leg bet builder is the best route to success. For me, the first part is for Jacobs to go for under 63.5 rushing yards because it’s his first proper game with the team, so it may take some time for him to get up to speed.

Sticking with the rushing numbers, leg two is for Love to run for over 7.5 yards. The Green Bay quarterback isn’t seen as a rusher, but Love can make plays with his feet if needed.

For Philadelphia, Brown, with more than 5.5 receptions, is the final part of the bet builder. He is a top receiver, and Hurts will look to get the ball to him early and often.

Bet Builder – 5.31/1

  • Josh Jacobs to go for under 63.5 rushing yards
  • Jordan Love to run for over 7.5 yards
  • AJ Brown to have more than 5.5 receptions

The performance of both teams in Brazil will be fascinating to watch. The two franchises have enough talent to achieve great things in 2024 and will be eager to get off to a strong start. The game promises to be exciting, with both teams aiming to make a significant impact on the upcoming season.
