The Atlanta Falcons plan to hire Raheem Morris as their next head coach, it was reported on Thursday.

Morris, who held the position on an interim basis for Atlanta’s final 11 games of the 2020 season after the firing of Dan Quinn, has been the LA Rams defensive coordinator in 2021. He also went 17-31 as coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 2009-11.

In all, the Falcons interviewed 13 candidates as possible replacements for Arthur Smith, who was fired after his third straight 7-10 campaign. Bill Belichick, the legendary former New England Patriots leader, was the most prominent potential hire, but he now looks set to be without a team for the 2024 season.

Atlanta haven’t had a winning season or made the playoffs since 2017. Let’s hope Morris can turn that around.

More to follow.
