Ravens @ Chiefs, 2024 NFL season opener: Betting tips
The long-awaited kickoff for the 2024 NFL season is finally here, and it’s a grand start with the reigning Super Bowl champions, the Kansas City Chiefs, hosting the Baltimore Ravens at Arrowhead Stadium on opening night.
These two teams, fresh from their impressive 2023 campaigns, are back to rekindle their rivalry, which peaked during last year’s AFC Championship Game. Both will be targeting the Lombardi Trophy once again this year.
The excitement for this game is palpable, promising a thrilling start to the season. With a plethora of enticing betting options, it’s shaping up to be a potentially season-defining match.
Kansas City Chiefs
The Chiefs head into the 2024 season determined to capture their third straight Super Bowl ring. Even though their roster doesn’t look as stacked across the board when compared to other teams around the league, they get results when it matters most. And a monumental reason for their success is quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
Undoubtedly, the 28-year-old will already go down in history as one of the best to ever do it. Last season, he threw for over 4,000 yards and 27 touchdowns. Of course, the key to greatness is consistency, and it is safe to say you will get quality play whenever Mahomes is on the field. Don’t get it twisted.
Even though many of the headlines related to him are about Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce can still get it done on the football field. Since the tight end arrived in Kansas City, he has been a top-level playmaker. When watching him play, people are in awe as they feel something special is happening. Teams double-team him, but it doesn’t matter because Kelce will get open.
The team scored 294 points on the defensive side throughout the 2023 season. A key player once again will be defensive tackle Chris Jones, who will be a tremendous force upfront. The Chiefs hope to start the season with a win in front of their fans.
Baltimore Ravens
There must be a sense of regret and disappointment in Baltimore after reflecting on 2023. Jon Harbaugh’s team looked like the finished article, welcoming Mahomes and the Chiefs to M&T Bank Stadium only to come up short against Andy Reid’s juggernaut.
But Lamar Jackson proved all his critics wrong last season without a shadow of a doubt, as the former Heisman Trophy winner proved to be box office whenever he put on his helmet. In 2023, he threw the ball for over 3,600 yards and 24 touchdowns, yet his most impressive passing stat is just seven interceptions. If a franchise wants to go deep into a season, ball security is critical because you must limit the number of turnovers.
Zay Flowers is an exciting prospect to watch who will break out this season. He is coming off an awe-inspiring rookie season where he notched up over 800 yards and five touchdowns.
Bet Builder – 5.63/1
Let’s start the new year with a simple bet builder. There are two parts. The first is for Kelce to have over 5.5 receptions because they will be looking to target him early and often. The last part is Mahomes to pass for under 258.5 yards. In recent years, we have seen Mahomes struggle to connect with his receivers on opening day.
For Baltimore, they’ve about a running back legend to their team, which will only make their running game even more scary. Expect Derrick Henry to go hard of his debut for the Ravens.
- Kelce has over 5.5 receptions
- Mahomes to pass for under 266.5 yards
- Henry anytime touchdown
It’s set to be an exhilarating game, and with the return of football, the excitement is palpable. Football is back, and we can’t wait to witness the action!
