Russell Wilson signs five-year, $245m extension with Denver Broncos
Broncos country, let’s Ride!
Denver QB Russell Wilson has signed a huge five-year, $245 million extension with his new franchise. The deal also includes an guaranteed $165 million dollars, first reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Since being traded to the Broncos back in March 2022, General Manager George Paton has been pushing to make this extension happen and he’s finally achieved just that.
Wilson’s extension is set to be the third-most lucrative contract in NFL history in terms of guaranteed money. Only Cleveland Browns’ Deshaun Watson $230m guaranteed and Arizona Cardinals’ quarterback Kyler Murray’s $189.5m are worth more. All three deals occurred during the offseason of 2022.
Who is next? The most likely NFL megadeal coming is for 2019 NFL MVP Lamar Jackson, who has openly been stating that he wants his fair share of money.
Lamar Jackson is expected to receive the most guaranteed money in NFL history if a deal happens with the Baltimore Ravens franchise, talks of course, are still ongoing.
For Wilson, he’s set to make his anticipated debut with the Broncos franchise on September 12th. With that game coming against his former team the Seattle Seahawks, it should be an explosive start to his career in Colorado.
