Three possible landing spots for Derrick Henry
He’s been one of the standout running backs in the NFL of recent years. But news coming out of the Tennessee Titans is that Derrick Henry could be available for trade this offseason.
The Titans already have purged several big-money veterans from their roster, so this isn’t as shocking as it may seem. It is difficult to imagine where else the 3x Pro-Bowler could suit up for, but it seems Henry could be playing for a new team in 2023.
Here are three possible destinations for the former NFL Offensive Player of the Year:
Buffalo Bills
The Bills expressed an interest in Christian McCaffrey before he joined the 49ers last year, and they still haven’t got a true number one runner on the roster.
Adding Henry to the Bills’ backfield would create so more opportunities for Josh Allen and the passing game, as teams would have to worry about stacking the box more trying to defend Henry.
Of any potential Henry landing spots outside of Tennessee, Buffalo feels a like-for-like alternative.
Miami Dolphins
Like the Bills, the Dolphins are a heavy favourite to sign Henry. Having seen their blockbuster trade for Tyreek Hill pay off last year, a big-name signing in 2023 must also be appealing for Miami.
They are also a team in need of a strong running back. Miami’s leading rusher, Raheem Mostert, is a pending free agent, and they are also yet to agree terms to extend Jeff Wilson. Infact, they don’t currently have a running back contracted on their roster, so the Dolphins are in real need of a starting runner.
A move for Henry and Miami really would be home to a team of all-stars.
Baltimore Ravens
If Lamar Jackson is to stay around in Baltimore, the team needs to build around him.
Yes, Baltimore’s offensive needs should be about enhancing their wideout targets. But imagine Derrick Henry and Jackson on the same team, the possibilities for the run-game would be endless.
The Ravens have the cap space and the capital to make a trade, could this become a reality? Anything is possible in this league.
