Top 5 running backs in 2023 NFL Draft

Having already highlighted the talent available at quarterback, cornerback and wide receiver, we now take a look at the running backs available in 2023.

It’s another stacked running back class, and while one name is dominating headlines, there is plenty of talent available at the position. And despite the running back position has lost stock when it comes to first round picks, value can definitely found in the later rounds.

Here is our list of the top five cornerbacks in the 2023 NFL Draft:

Honourable mentions: Blake Corum, DeWayne McBride, Tyjae Spears, Sean Tucker,

5. Chartavius ‘Tank’ Bigsby, Auburn

I may be biased, but if we’re drafting on name alone, then Tank Bigsby has got to be right up there. The Auburn star isn’t bad on the field either, his ability to change direction and explode through tacklers is second to none. He might not be as elusive as other backs in this class, but he can be a downhill destroyer that many teams crave.

He’s a one pace runner, and has been seen to struggle in holding off linebackers in a foot race. But Bigsby should be drafted in the early to mid rounds in the upcoming draft.

4. Zach Charbonnet, UCLA

We really like Zach Charbonnet, a heavily used back during college. Having rushed for nearly 2,500 yards while finding the endzone 27 times in just two years, he’s an experienced player with a brilliant combination of physical traits, which will make him a sought after prospect at the end of April.

There are negatives however. He lacks breakaway speed and for a big back, there will be injury concerns. But Charbonnet is a proven player already, and he shouldn’t have much trouble in transitioning in the NFL.

3. Devon Achane, Texas A&M

If you’re looking for pure speed, then Texas A&M’s Devon Achane is your man. Using his lightening pace, surprisingly tough between the tackles, with great vision to find and exploit holes in any defense.

At 5’9″ and 185 pounds, many will be put off by Achane’s short frame which could restrict his projection in today’s NFL. But he’s got all the making of an exceptional player when he makes the step up. I think he could very well be a second round pick in a few weeks time.

2. Jahmyr Gibbs, Alabama

Gibbs is a player who could easily be the top running back any other year, certainly in the last couple of drafts. He’s an exceptional dual threat on the ground and through the air.

In three years between Georgia Tech and Alabama, Gibbs ran for 2,132 years and 15 touchdowns while catching 103 passes for 1,215 yards and eight scores. That’s an incredible return for any player, and will make him a really versatile asset as a pro.

Akin to Alvin Kamara, D’Andre Swift and even the great Jamaal Charles, Gibbs thrives in the open field and has a genuine first-round potential.

1. Bijan Robinson, Texas

Who else? One of the most converted players available in the 2023 NFL Draft, Robinson is the best running back prospect out of college since Saquon Barkley was drafted second overall in 2018.

While many think Robinson won’t go that high, he has every chance to be selected early in the first round. He’ll easily become one of the best in his position as pro from the off and has the potential to transform any offense. Robinson is that type of a player, and we can’t wait to see him in action.

Where could he go? He was taken by the Los Angeles Charges in James Fallows’ recent mock draft, at 21st overall. It’s anyone’s guess, but he’ll be a great acquisition for any team.
