With the 2022 NFL season just around the corner, it is time for fans to get excited about important games on their team’s schedule. For the players it is time for them to start thinking about big matchups in the season. Planning ahead for when they face the best players.

Here we will take a look at eight player matchups which could produce fireworks.

Stefon Diggs vs Jalen Ramsey

These two players are some of the biggest personalities in the league. They both like to talk on and off the field. But the outcome of this match up will speak a thousand words.

Ramsey will have sky-high confidence after winning the Super Bowl last season. Diggs will be hungry to emulate that success with the Bills this season.

Thanks to elite players such as Ramsey and Diggs, the teams they play for are both favourites to win their conferences. People tuning into this game could be watching the potential Super Bowl match up at the end of the season. This game is a must watch.

T.J. Watt vs Tristan Wirfs

Last years defensive player of the year has a tough match up against Tristan Wirfs, arguably the best right tackle in the NFL.

Watt will be desperate to sack QB Tom Brady, and Wirfs will do everything to stop this.

Due to the divisions these players are in it is unlikely that they will face each other again for 4 years – apart from a potential Super Bowl game.

Us fans must cherish these match ups when we can, as they are not common appearances.

Sit back in week 6 and enjoy an unmovable object try slow down an unstoppable force.

Travis Kelce vs Fred Warner

One reason Kelce is so good is due to his ability to create mismatches. He targets line-backers who can’t cover at a high level.

Unfortunately for him, Warner is not like every other line-backer. He is often seen as the best in the game.

The star tight end will have to be at his best to get some open field for Mahomes to target him. Whilst Warner will need to stay concentrated to avoid letting Kelce slip away from him.

Keep your eyes open for the primetime week 7 match up.

Davante Adams vs J.C. Jackson

Two players who are both playing for new teams. Two players who are truly elite in their positions. Only one player can win this match up though.

NFL fans can catch this match up in the first week of the regular season. This will let these players show everybody what they have to offer for their new teams.

Adams will want to show that he can perform just as well without Aaron Rodgers. Jackson hopes to show he is not just a product of Bill Belichick’s defensive system.

This game will have even higher stakes as the Raiders and Chargers will both be trying to overcome a tough divisional rival.

Travon Walker vs Evan Neal

Rookie versus rookie is always an exciting match up. It is made even more exciting when it’s the first overall pick against the seventh overall pick.

We could be witnessing two future hall of famers go at it early in their career, fans love seeing what the rookies have to offer.

Whilst both players were drafted early in the first round it is still unknown what to expect from them.

Both young players have high hopes from both fanbases. This week seven game will be a good indicator of where the rookies are in their development.

Joe Burrow vs Trevon Diggs

Anybody who followed the NFL last year could tell you how immense Burrow was. Although he was suspect to throwing some interceptions, 14 in the regular season.

On the other side of the ball is Trevon Diggs who racked up 11 interceptions in 2021. This was the most since 1981.

The two players are both young and constantly learning but are highly regarded already. Diggs will continue to search for stray balls in the air next season. Burrow will aim to exploit any gaps left by Diggs.

This poses to be one of the more electrifying matchups in week two.

Justin Jefferson vs Jaire Alexander

Two more young players who have established themselves as being elite in their positions. What makes this one of the tastiest matchups is that the Vikings and Packers are fierce divisional rivals.

Jefferson seems harder to stop every year of his career. Alexander is a lockdown cornerback every time he steps on the field.

This match up can be seen as early as week 1. However, week 17 sees the two face each other again. This game could be the decider for who wins the NFC North.

This battle on the field could turn some heads as each player is striving to be recognised as the best in their respective position.

Christian McCaffery vs Aaron Donald

McCaffrey has struggled with injuries for a couple of years now. Fans may be quick to forget how dominant McCaffrey was in 2019. Hoping to return to his previous form in 2022, the running back will want to dominate in every game.

Speaking of domination, McCaffrey will have to come up against Aaron Donald.

Donald is universally seen as the best defensive player in the NFL. His level of play is always at an elite level.

In week 6 against the Panthers Donald will want to maintain this high level of play to stop McCaffrey. The Panthers’ RB is quick and agile, but the powerful DT is an incredible run stopper.

Who will come out on top? Hopefully is will be one of the great matchups this year.
