Indianapolis Colts waiver former All-Pro Shaquille Leonard
In a shocking move, the Indianapolis Colts have waived former All-Pro linebacker Shaquille Leonard, announced in a statement by the player.
Having displayed frustration over his playing role earlier this month, Leonard hits the open market and is sure to attract a lot of attention.
Leonard was drafted by the Colts in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft, playing 70 games for the team, recording 15 sacks, 614 total tackles and 12 interceptions, including one that he returned for a touchdown back in 2019.
If a team were to claim Shaq Leonard off of the waivers, they would owe him $6.11M for the remainder of the 2023 season. He’s under contract through 2026, and would be due $16.1M in 2024, $19M in 2025 and $19.6M in 2026.
