In a surprising move, the Tennessee Titans have sacked head coach Mike Vrabel after going 6-11 during the 2023 season.

This year marked a second losing season for Tennessee, but Vrabel’s tenure will be remembered as a successful period for the Titans, during which the team secured the #1 seed in 2021, the AFC Championship in 2019 and throughout, they were always remained competitive.

The move is most shocking firing of a head coach in the NFL so far this season, after the likes of Ron Rivera and Arthur Smith both lost their jobs on Monday, particularly considering Vrabel is often regarded as one of the best coaches in the league.

He will be one of the top candidates available for new head coach openings this offseason, including being linked to a potential move back to the New England Patriots.

As for Tennessee, billionaire owner Amy Adams Strunk is now keen for a ‘fresh perspective’ on the coaching staff, following the front office reshuffle and hire of general manager Ron Carthon in 2023.
