NFL Week 12: Jags stun Ravens as Mike White turns it around for Jets
The New York Jets‘ third-string quarterback Mike White produced another stunning performance to lead his team to a 31-10 Week 12 victory over the Chicago Bears.
White, who made his debut in a win over the Cincinnati Bengals in 2021, threw for 315 yards and three touchdowns, with rookie receiver Garrett Wilson scoring twice in the contest.
The Jets, who benched starter Zach Wilson earlier in the week, move to 7-4 on the season.
In Sunday Night Football, the Philadelphia Eagles dismantled reigning MVP Aaron Rodgers as they downed the Green Bay Packers in a thrilling 40-33 action-fest to move to 10-1.
Rodgers left the game injured, while Jalen Hurts continued his MVP-contending form to help his team move up.
Hurts ran for 157 yards, breaking Michael Vick’s record, as the 363 ground yards from the Eagles is by far the most of any team this season. Infact, that total is the eighth most by any team in the Super Bowl era.
For the Packers, with Aaron Rodgers injured during the game, the defeat is their seventh in eight games and means they fall to 1-6 away from home, including a Week Five loss to the Giants in London.
Slump continue for Wilson and Murray, Chiefs lead the way
It was another dreadful week for the Denver Broncos and Russell Wilson in Week 12, as the former Super Bowl couldn’t stop the rot with his new team, who fall to 3-8 after defeat to the Carolina Panthers. Wilson was yelled at by defensive tackle Mike Purcell during the game, as the Broncos continue to be the worst offensive unit in the NFL this season.
There were two ‘Go For It’ 2-point conversation plays in the dying seconds of games on Sunday. First up, Trevor Lawrence turned up, throwing a quick out route to Zay Jones to take the lead with 14 seconds on the clock.
It was a landmark game for Lawrence, who threw three touchdowns for the Jaguars, who still had to survive a 67-yard Justin Tucker field goal attempt, as they managed to come from seven points or more down in the final minute
Similarly in Arizona, Justin Herbert found Gerald Everett to give the Chargers the upper hand just 15 seconds from time in their clash with Kyler Murray’s Cardinals.
Murray delivered a damning statement on his team after the Cardinals’ last-minute loss, with speculation over a fractured with coach Kliff Kingsley relationship continuing to grow.
Elsewhere, the San Francisco 49ers defense continued its dominant form by shutting out the New Orleans Saints 13-0, while the Bengals won their hard-fought battle against the Tennessee Titans.
The Kansas City Chiefs moved atop the AFC ladder as they overcame the falling Los Angeles Rams, while the Washington Commanders entered the playoff frame with a win over the Atlanta Falcons. There were also big wins for the Dolphins, Bengals, Browns, Panthers and Raiders.
