NFL Week Five Star Performers

There were more big shocks and some even bigger performances in Week Five. But who were you most impressed by this week? Let’s check out of stars…

Desmond Ridder

There were plenty of voices questioning Desmond Ridder’s quality heading into Atlanta‘s game against the Texans. But this was a much needed comeback after a dismal showing in London in Week Four for Ridder, leading a game-winning drive to cap off a solid display for his team.

329 passing yards and a touchdowns presents a solid afternoon for Ridder, but it was his decision making and knowing when not to throw a pass which made the difference for the young QB and helping his side to victory. A career high day for the Cincinnati graduate, and a great platform for him to build on.

Joey Porter Jr.

After finally seeing his role and usage increase in Week Five against the Ravens, Steelers cornerback Joey Porter Jr. had an excellent game and played a crucial part of a defensive masterclass which helped Pittsburgh to victory.

Porter Jr. also got his first NFL interception as well for his troubles, which came from an end-zone jump ball at a critical moment in the game to help keep the Steeles in the contest. A brilliant statement performance from one of the standout cornerback rookies entering the league this year.

DJ Moore

Statistically, DJ Moore’s performance in Thursday night’s 40-20 win for the Chicago Bears over the Washington Commanders was the best of his six-year NFL career, and it’s one of the best we’ve seen in a long time. Eight catches going for 230 yards and three touchdowns. That is incredible efficiency, and the yards total was also the most by an NFL receiver since the Bengals’ Ja’Marr Chase (who also balled out in Week Five) compiled 266 yards in January 2022.

Moore set the tone early for Chicago; for their first possession, he hauled in a 58-yard pass from Justin Fields on third-and-9 and then caught a 20-yard TD in the left corner of the end zone on third-and-14. From then onwards, he was unstoppable.

Justin Fields deserves a lot of credit for his performance, but Moore showed why the Bears traded for him this offseason on Thursday night.
